Assistant Director of Care
Job Description
As our Family Life Assistant Director of Care, you will play a vital role in providing support, guidance, and high-quality care to all church members and their families of Lone Star Cowboy Church, including the online campus. Your calling will be to develop and maintain meaningful relationships, ensuring that every person feels valued, cared for, and spiritually nourished. Under the direction of the Family Life Pastor, you will be expected to educate, develop, and strengthen members through classes and personal consultation.
MINISTERIAL SUPPORT
Under the direction of the Family Life Pastor, the Family Life Assistant Director of Care will:
– Provide benevolence, Biblical counseling, and healing support to those in spiritual need regarding personal, health, financial, or religious problems.
– Perform baptism services, weddings, and funerals, as needed.
– Serve on-call to minister to the emergency care needs of church members as they arise.
– Make assessments or refer to appropriate internal or external care and counseling resources. This may include referring to local agencies in providing care and rehabilitation.
FAMILY LIFE MINISTRY SUPPORT
– Implement the day-to-day activities of the Care Ministry by leading and/or overseeing weekly bible studies and classes, special programs, Acts of Grace retreats, and other ministry-related activities.
– Lead ministry teams in the implementation of ministry events/programs by overseeing the organizing of resources, developing curriculum, reserving space, ordering needed materials, scheduling speakers and volunteers as appropriate, and performing other related tasks, as needed.
– Provide ministry leadership and support to all ministry teams and volunteer leaders; focusing on individual spiritual development, prayer, and problem-solving.
– Prepare and maintain internal and external communication for the ministry including ministry correspondence, marketing materials, etc.; obtain approval from the Family Life Pastor, as appropriate.
– Manage the day-to-day stewardship of the budget; seeking approval as appropriate.
– Collaborate with other ministries to identify and address any care needs within their ministry.
– Identify complex problems within the Care Ministry and work with the Family Life Pastor to develop and implement solutions.
– Keep the leadership team abreast of ministry activities by providing resources, documentation, and communication, as needed; document ministry activities appropriately in the church’s database.
– Ensure that all requests for pastoral care are responded to in a timely manner.
– Maintain and safeguard the confidentiality of sensitive information such as individual membership records, pastoral counseling, Biblical counseling, and correspondence of staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies or a similar field preferred; High school diploma or general education degree required
Certified in Counseling or able to complete the requirements of an accredited certification program while employed by Lone Star Cowboy Church
2+ years of experience leading a ministry within a church
Knowledge of appropriate counseling and guidance techniques
Equipped to address issues such as substance/alcohol additions, sexual additions, men’s issues with sexual factors, emotional and physical trauma recovery, etc.
Must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse individuals
Experienced in recruiting, developing, managing, and leading volunteers and teams
Experience managing a budget, with the ability to manage money effectively,
Proficient in Google Suite and other applicable software (i.e., Breeze, etc.) preferred
