Job Description
We seek someone who will: Ensure a loving, nurturing, and safe environment for the children of SHPC (newborns through grade 5) and their families. Implement a comprehensive spiritual growth program for preschool and elementary-age children through a group-centered ministry approach so that every child has a group leader. Equip and support the SHPC Kids Care team staff, who provide children with developmentally appropriate care and activities during Sunday morning worship and additional offerings throughout the week.

Demonstrates consistent ethical behavior and models an authentic Christian lifestyle for children and their families.
Builds and refines a comprehensive long-term vision for ministry, and yearly scope and sequence for children’s curriculum; oversees the planning and implementation of all programming for children.
Builds on existing children’s program that continues to invite families into a relationship with Jesus Christ and promotes continued growth in faithful discipleship, including Sunday School, Children at the Lord’s Table sacraments workshops, mission/outreach projects, family events, and summer camps.
Invites into ministry, supports, and encourages a team of adult and student leaders to invest in children’s ministry, and works with the Director of Student Ministry to conduct regular leader training events to equip those leaders. Oversees background checks for all volunteer leaders.
Empowers and equips the Children’s volunteer team and SHPC staff Care team; invests in their training, encourages them to actively build relationships with families and children at church and wherever they spend time.
Meets with teams weekly to pray for each other and the ministry at hand, as well as to form a sense of community around the ministry.
Coordinates, plans and prepares for successful execution of weekly programming, including editing leader guides, scripts, and parent resources; shopping for and prepping needed supplies; and building and scheduling weekly parent and volunteer communications.
Provides resources, support and assistance to parents/guardians so they can faithfully carry out their roles as the primary developers of faith in their children’s lives, and encourages family participation in church activities.
Conducts all activities related to selecting and hiring SHPC Care team staff.
Hosts orientations and onboarding activities for new team members.
Conducts or coordinates all team trainings.
Prepares monthly schedule for Care team staff, including Sunday morning and weekday/evening work opportunities.
Manages all appropriate payroll responsibilities for staff Care team.
Works with appropriate staff to publicize Children’s Ministry programs/events.
Manages content development and maintenance of family-specific webpages and social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Works with church finance team to project and maintain annual ministry budget.
Attends all staff meetings.
Collaborates with other ministry areas in intergenerational programming.
Works with the Orange Strategy of Children’s Ministry.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field and
Experience: Five years of experience in children’s/youth ministries, education programs, or related experience, including supervisory experience in a professional environment.
